چکیده
The transportation sector is considered one of the driving forces behind increased release greenhouse gases (GHGs), with road transport being this sector’s main emissions contributor. In turn, efforts should be devoted to reducing emitted GHGs from sector, and many such opportunities lie in life cycle. This paper investigated fourteen emission reduction scenarios based on green initiatives issued by Abu Dhabi Government. explored measures are either related works municipal services or traffic movement. proposed were evaluated reference a baseline study previously reported authors for three different projects city. Findings reveal that normalized GHG could significantly reduced (i) replacing 30% internal combustion engine passenger cars battery electric vehicles where power demand covered almost equally nuclear liquified natural gas (LNG) sources, (ii) number 10%, (iii) having one-fifth powered LNG. A lesser significant achieved conventional lamps light-emitting diode (LED) one-fourth lighting solar energy. Even portion Portland cement ground granulated blast furnace slag concrete structures, fully utilizing treated sewage effluent roadside-plant irrigation, desalinated water used irrigation 20%, (iv) increasing higher efficiency 10%. Replacing hot-mix asphalt warm-mix using high stiffness modulus base layer results low reduction. use 15% recycled 50% aggregate construction has least impact When all combined, an overall 9–17% during project cycle achieved.
